Xiaomi is venturing into laptops, and wants to take on Apple, Lenovo.
Xiaomi is working on launching its own laptops by the beginning of 2016, and has held talks with Samsung for the supply of memory chips, says a report in Bloomberg.
The Bloomberg report quotes people who are aware of Xiaomi’s plans and says that the start-up aims to compete with premium laptops like Apple’s MacBook Air and Lenovo’s ThinkPad.
Xiaomi, which is the world’s most valued start-up, was number 4 in the worldwide smartphone market share, according to IDC’s data.
