• Microsoft Hololens available for all developers, can be yours for $3000


    Microsoft Hololens has received its second major upgrade with the ‘Windows 10 Anniversary Update’
    Microsoft Hololens is now available for shipping if you are a developer or a commercial partner of Microsoft. In a blog post, Alex Kipman, Technical Fellow of Windows and Devices Group, said that the company had fulfilled the first wave of orders from the company’s commercial partners and developers, and is expanding to all developers and business customers with its Hololens Development Edition (in US and Canada).
    Each developer can purchase the up to five devices from the Hololens website, priced at $3000 (approx Rs 2,00,000). The company claims the Hololens will help train flight crews and aircraft mechanics, golf pros and fans to get more out of their game, among other things.   • Xiaomi releases VR headset trailer, could launch on Thursday


    Xiaomi’s VR headset based on Google’s Daydream platform teased, reveals August 4 launch date (Source: Weibo)
    Xiaomi is likely to launch its first VR headset tomorrow. Last week reports emerged that the product will launch on August 1 and now it seems to launch tomorrow. Xiaomi has also put out a trailer which hints at August 4 launch date.
    Xiaomi’s VR headset is reportedly based on Google’s Daydream platform, which was announced by the search giant at company’s annual developer conference, Google I/O 2016. Google’sd Daydream is a VR platform that needs Daydream-ready phones’ to power the VR headset. So expect Xiaomi to also announce device compatible with the purported VR headset.

  • Sony launches GT4D and V44D party audio systems


    Sony’s GT4D audio system is priced at Rs 50,990 and the V44D at Rs 29,990
    Sony’s has launched its new portable home audio systems- GT4D and V44D featuring Dolby digital sound. The speaker systems feature Bluetooth and Near Field Communication (NFC) connectivity to enhance ease-of-use for mobile devices, PC and Mac users. Consumers get an option for AUX input, DVD, and USB. The devices also have built-in FM and LDAC capabilities. They can be controlled remotely through Sony’s in-house SongPal app.
    The V44D is a one-box speaker with an inbuilt handle to help carry it around. The GT4D, which is much bigger in size is equipped with wheels and a pull-out handle like a towable suitcase.
