Microsoft Band 2 now has support for Cortana on Android as well thanks to the latest update to the Microsoft Health app.
Microsoft Band 2 now supports Cortana for Android users as well with the latest update for Microsoft Health App bring the new feature. Previously the voice-assistant feature for Band 2 was restricted to Windows Phone users only.
According to The Digital Lifestyle the Microsoft Health app is currently limited to the US only, and users will need Cortana installed on their Android smartphone to use the feature with the band.

The Google Play description for Microsoft Health app points out the Cortana addition as well. It reads:
“Cortana is now available on Android – With Cortana on your Band, you can access your personal assistant for instant notifications of important events, communications, and voice-active info without reaching for your phone. Speak into the mic on your Band to Cortana to take actions for you.”
The advantage with Cortana on the Microsft Band 2 is that users can now rely on voice commands to check updates, track their progress, without tapping the Band all the time.
Microsoft Band 2 is currently retailing in the US at a price of $174.99 down from the original $249.99 price when it was launched. The fitness band has a continuous heart rate monitor to track heart rate, keeps a count of calories burnt, sleep quality and can also be used to track sports like running, biking, golf etc.
It will also give alerts for email, text, calendar, and calls. Band 2 has 11 sensors, including GPS, UV monitor, and barometer along with a colour curved display.
