    Apple’s loyal army of software developers is joining the tech giant in its bid to conquer the living room with a new version of Apple TV, creating apps for the big screen that they hope will attract users and unlock a rich source of revenue.
    A long-awaited update to Apple TV, which launched in 2007, will start shipping in 80 countries on Friday.
    Apple views apps as the future of television. An App Store is the centerpiece of the new device, and hundreds of apps will be ready at launch, including gaming, shopping and photography.

  • Lenovo Yoga 700 convertible laptops with Windows 10 launched

    Lenovo has launched its new YOGA 700 with Windows 10.
    Lenovo has launched two new convertible laptops as part of its Yoga 700 series, one with an 11-inch screen and the second with a 14-inch screen. While the 11-inch YOGA 700 starts at $649, 14-inch YOGA 700 starts at $799. Both computers run Windows 10.
    The screen for the Yoga 700 is a responsive 10-point multitouch one with Full HD (1920 x 1080) IPS display resolution. The laptops come with Dolby DS1.0 Home Theater certified stereo speakers.
    The 11-inch Yoga 700 weighs only 1.1 kg and measures 15.8 mm thin. Lenovo is promising 7 hours of battery life with this 11-inch convertible laptop.

    Researchers in China have unveiled a car that can be controlled simply by the mind, according to a Reuters report. A research team from Nankai University in Tianjin helped developed the car, which is the first of its kind.
    The car works by capturing EEG (electroencephalogram) signals from the driver’s brain. It comes with 16 sensors to covert these signals into commands to drive the car. According to Reuters, the driver needs to wear brain signal-reading equipment following which one can control the car to go forward, backwards, come to a stop, lock and unlock vehicles without actually moving their hands or feet.

    On Flickr, Apple’s iPhones dominated as the favourite camera brand for 2015, beating even DSLR brands like Canon and Nikon.
    According to Flickr’s year in review post, Apple beat out rival Samsung in the year 2015 and by the end of the year, the Cupertino-tech giant had a share of nearly one third of the photos uploaded on Flickr.
    The post notes that “Canon’s share fell significantly and Nikon continued its slow decline”, although Sony and Fujifilm managed to stay steady in 2015.
