• Apple MacBook Pro price cut expected in 2017, new 32GB RAM variant: Report


    Apple introduced its new series of 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro at its media event on October 27
    Apple released its 2016 MacBook Pro lineup, but KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said that he expects the Cupertino giant to drop the price of the new lineup, and even add 32GB RAM support next year.
    Kuo noted that Apple usually launches its products at a higher price, and only does price cuts on the units in the new year that follows. He anticipates that the drop in prices will be coming during the second half of next year. Kuo additionally believes that customers will gravitate towards the new MacBook’s once the USB-C market matures along with the Touch Bar.

  • Apple will discontinue its third-gen Apple TV: Report


    Apple, however, said it will fulfill order backlog for the device.
    Apple has reportedly bid goodbye to its third-gen Apple TV, shifting its focus on the new fourth-gen model, media reported on Thursday.
    According to 9to5mac.com, in an email sent out to employees and education partners, Apple said that it is discontinuing the device.
    “The third-gen model was introduced in 2012 and was quietly updated a year later. Since then, Apple has shifted its focus to the tvOS-powered fourth-gen Apple TV,” the report said.

    The company is currently selling refurbished models of third-gen Apple TV for $59. Once the refurbished models disappear, “Apple will seemingly have stopped sales of the third-gen Apple TV all together,” the report added.

    Apple is secretly working on Virtual Reality headsets and has a dedicated team for the same.
    Apple has assembled a large team of experts in virtual and augmented reality and built prototypes of headsets that could one day rival Facebook’s Oculus Rift or Microsoft’s Hololens, the Financial Times reported.
    A secret research unit, housing hundreds of staff assembled from acquisitions or poached from other companies, is working on next-generation headset technologies, the FT reported, citing people familiar with the initiative.
